A couple weeks ago, a winter storm battered parts of the United States. And those of us in the Southern states were not prepared for snow, ice and temperatures near colder than Alaska this past week!
For many days we had no where to go. This is what I learned.
In moments where my world/the world are literally stopped in their tracks, in moments when our norms are disrupted; in moments when we are forced to be still and get back to basics… these are the times to hear from the Lord the best.
Why? Simple answer: lack of distraction. No work, less connection, and plenty of time to think.
These times bring about Sabbath. Sabbath is a time of stillness, rest and an opportunity to be refreshed. For this time I am thankful. Am I happy that many have suffered and are still suffering? Absolutely not! However, as we are approaching the other side of this storm, my takeaway is clear: I need to get serious about stepping away and coming away with the Lord. I need to be attentive to his voice even more than I was before.
I believe there’s something more the Lord wants to speak to us if we are willing to sit and listen.
If you have a hard time seeking rest, pray this for yourself.
Lord I recognize I need your help in resting and being still. God forgive me for my busyness and give me a desire to spend time with you. God give me ears to hear and eyes to see where you are in my life. God I don’t want to miss your presence. Thank you for showing me a new way to live with you and in you. Amen.

May God show you how to rest in Him. ❤️
Love always,
It’s Nita.
