it's Nita.

Change is afoot. I have been feeling unsure and uneasy with what lays ahead of me. Yesterday, I was mentioning this to a friend and she began to encourage me. As she was speaking, the Lord spoke this to my spirit and said:

“Look for the Lord’s ways and walk in it.”

I knew this was some remnant of scripture. And so I Googled and found Jeremiah 6:16.

Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.

I pondered this through the night and went to sleep with a determination to gain further understanding.

In my devotional time this morning, I returned to this scripture and noticed something. It is full of action. I bolded the words that stood out to me for emphasis.

1. Stand – be positioned at a particular place
2. Look – attentive to see, to search
3. Ask – make a request
4. Walk – movement in a particular direction
5. Find – acquire that which you are searching for

This is what I must do. This is what we must do.

The ways of the Lord are laid out before us. We seek the Lord through fellowship with the Lord. We fellowship with the Lord through prayer, reading His Word and gathering with other believers. We find the way we should go by putting the Word into practice in our lives.

If we position ourselves to search for the Lord and ask Him to lead us and guide in the way we should go, He will do it. If we trust Him to guide us (it’s a faith walk. For we walk by faith and not by sight) we will find that place of rest and sufficiency to live our lives.

There is no toil in the Lord. We are empowered to walk in His ways through the gift of the Holy Spirit that lives within us.

Take His yoke (His ways) upon you and learn for Him. For His yoke is easy and his burden is light. There you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29)
