• Humbly you came on a donkey

Days later, beaten, bruised and bled for me

You took up the cross and carried it to Calvary

Mocked, scorned and hung for me

For the sins and curses I could not carry

You took them all for me

    Lord you gave your Son

    to reconcile all of humanity

Stripes of blood and a crown of thorns

He gave his life so that we could have more

Reflecting on this day of days

We will not grieve or be dismayed

    We celebrate your sacrifice

Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life

    Crown of thorns.
  • Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:27

    God’s best always,

    Nita.

  • Years ago, God spoke two phrases to me regarding change and growth.

    1. “When God says go, it’s for your good.”

    2. “Go where you know that you’ll get what you need to grow.”

As I enter a transitional phase of my life, these words couldn’t be more timely. It is easy to settle into norms and comforts with no thought to change or moving. But God is always calling us to grow. Growth requires change. Change that is transformational will shift us out of our comfort zone.

The simple truth is that God uses change to grow and mature us.

When I look back over my life and reflect on moments of transition, I can see the faithfulness of God. I won’t say I was fully confident and without uncertainty every step of the way, but I know that even in the midst of not knowing the end result… I was never alone in the journey.

I pray you have the courage to go into what God is calling you! Every step in faith is obedience. Perhaps your call to change is developing a new habit like a commitment to exercise, moving cross country, starting a new job or entering into a new life role like parenthood or marriage. Whatever it may be God will be with you every step of the way. The beautiful thing about change with God is that you are never called to do it on your own.

  • A couple weeks ago, a winter storm battered parts of the United States. And those of us in the Southern states were not prepared for snow, ice and temperatures near colder than Alaska this past week!

For many days we had no where to go. This is what I learned.

In moments where my world/the world are literally stopped in their tracks, in moments when our norms are disrupted; in moments when we are forced to be still and get back to basics… these are the times to hear from the Lord the best.

Why? Simple answer: lack of distraction. No work, less connection, and plenty of time to think.

These times bring about Sabbath. Sabbath is a time of stillness, rest and an opportunity to be refreshed. For this time I am thankful. Am I happy that many have suffered and are still suffering? Absolutely not! However, as we are approaching the other side of this storm, my takeaway is clear: I need to get serious about stepping away and coming away with the Lord. I need to be attentive to his voice even more than I was before.

I believe there’s something more the Lord wants to speak to us if we are willing to sit and listen.

If you have a hard time seeking rest, pray this for yourself.

Lord I recognize I need your help in resting and being still. God forgive me for my busyness and give me a desire to spend time with you. God give me ears to hear and eyes to see where you are in my life. God I don’t want to miss your presence. Thank you for showing me a new way to live with you and in you. Amen.

May God show you how to rest in Him. ❤️

    Love always,

    It’s Nita.

  • Have you ever felt yourself drawn to a certain verse of the Bible over and over again? The Bible front to back is full of rich truth but I always seem to come back to a few verses.

I call these my heart scriptures. Similar to life verses (a verse from the Bible (or a short passage) that you commit to memory and share with others), heart scriptures I find as I pass through different seasons of life. Some are from childhood and others are new to where I presently am. Either way, God is always speaking through his Word!

The heart scriptures in this season of my life Isaiah 43:18-19 and Joshua 1:9. With various life transitions and unknowns, I cling to these truths.

    >>>

Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

    <<<

What verse of the Bible speaks most to you in your life? There are over 31,000 verses in the Bible, which means you have a lot to choose from!

I pray God opens your eyes in a new way to scripture and shows you a new aspect of his nature and character through his Word!

  • uprooted (part 2).

In my previous post, I discussed RTF and ungodly beliefs. In this part, I would like to share about how issues (particularly my issues) relate to one another. It is probably no surprise to you that no issue happens in isolation… here’s how I discovered how mine were connected.

February 2020 (following a church-wide 21-day Daniel Fast. Full transparency, it took me years to learn to fast properly, pray, and develop other spiritual disciplines. So don’t get discouraged in your spiritual growth) the Holy Spirit gave me a very intensive and deep insight to how my issues are connected.

It started on February 5th with a black pen and legal pad; I started taking notes. And the notes kept coming. As the list words grew, I felt the urge to start simplifying the groups of words and start connecting them to one another (see below).

I drew arrows between words I felt were related to each other. For example, rejection caused anxiety and anxiety caused control which led to rebellion, etc. I reflected on the patterns in my own life and drew them. Lastly, I colored and bolded the arrows that I felt were connected to my core issue. For me, this turned out to be abandonment.

I then paused on drawing and reflected on this core issue: abandonment. I asked the Lord to show me when the issue of abandonment entered my life. Some questions I asked were: Was this passed down generationally from my parents or other relative(s)? Who abandoned me? How old was I? What happened? As I got the answers to the questions I started working through what RTF calls Soul Spirit Hurts (I call them Soul Spirit Healings). This is a listening and waiting on the Lord time where I invite the Holy Spirit to help me process the pain and hurt from this issue. This principle is founded in Psalm 147:3 (He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds).

In this process, I enter into a time of exchanging my negative emotions for the blessings that God has for me. I ask the Lord to enter into my pain and actively speak out the negative emotions I am releasing. Verbally, I am casting my cares (1 Peter 5:7). All the while, I take note of any images that come to mind, words of encouragement, scriptures, affirmations, feelings, etc. (Note: this is unique to alone time. In an RTF session with other ministers they take notes for you ☺️).

For those that may not be familiar when the concept of exchanges. When God takes away and cleanses you, you won’t be left empty. He always gives you a blessing to replace the negative and hurt. Always wait for what He wants to give you in exchange.

Now, as you can imagine, this was starting to be quite a lot of information so I complied it into a table. The table below is the format by which I document the information from the sessions where I’ve received inner healing and freedom with RTF. I note the date, ministers, issue(s), primary doors (core areas that relate to the issue), GB (godly belief I receive from the Lord. See my previous post), and any blessings, encouragements or insights I received from my ministers.

Ok, so! Let me be completely honest. I was not expecting such a laundry list. 😭 This was one day (February 5th) in my time with the Lord. Y’all, I was exhausted and rather dumfounded that I had some much junk to list out. Clearly, I had my specks to address in my own eyes (Matthew 7:3). 😂

And just when I thought I was finished, I got some more information from the Lord the next day (see below).

So there is was. A laundry list of issues and problems but even better blessings, encouragement and insights! That’s where my hope and focus resides. I thankfully I soaked in that for a while.

    .

    .

    .

About two and a half months later on April 24th. I was inspired to revisit my map and table. This time I started connecting all the issues (I knew at the time) that I struggled with. I worked at this in a Power Point slide (for easier editing than on paper) and made boxes with connecting arrows until I felt there was no more to do. Then I rested.

This time around I was not so upset by my list but rather I was grateful for the clarity! At this point I had been doing RTF ministry since January 2019. It wasn’t my job to get to the bottom of all my problems in just a few months time. In fact, I have had many sessions with other ministers and alone time with the Holy Spirit over the last 2 years. The practices I have learned in RTF have become part of my spiritual maintenance. I am sure I will be doing them my whole life. God does work in all of us step-by-step (Exodus 23:30). ❤️

Thus, the point of this post is to show you more of my process and the results. I am still a work in progress and despite the troubles and trials through the years I can confidently say all things are working together for my good (Romans 8:28)!

In closing, remember God is not a respecter of persons. What I have received is an inheritance from the Lord as a child of God based on the promises of God written in His Word.

As a child of God, you have a right to that inheritance too!

I hope this post has inspired you to seek the Lord in a new way, to uncover truth and to be free!

  • I’ve been listening to Graves into Gardens (By Elevation Worship) pretty heavily over the last few weeks and as I was singing I noticed something. I am singing scripture! I didn’t know what chapter and verses specifically but I recognize pieces of the lyrics as phrases from the Bible.

This was a big deal for me! because (to be completely honest) sometimes I don’t set aside enough time to read and meditate on scripture. You see I read a daily verse or a portion of text by it doesn’t always stick with me throughout the day.

However, when I am listening to a song repeatedly it gets stuck in my head! (I’m sure you know that feeling). In this case, I didn’t mind because it wasn’t a endless loop of the latest jingle. Instead, it was something encouraging. I felt better as I sang to myself… ☺️

So I took notes as I listened and then started googling. Eventually, I found the scripture that connected to the song! It was rich and full of truth… lyrics with substance. ❤️

    My takeaways and personal challenge:

    1. Reflect on what you’ve been listening to. Is the music and media life-giving? Is it something you want to be stuck in your head?

    2. Meditate on the words to worship songs. Ask the Lord where the words are found in scripture. He speaks! And don’t forget you can Google 😄

    3. Try writing scripture as well as reading. Writing actually helps with your memory. It doesn’t have to be pages on pages of scripture, you can start with just one verse. Take your time and write out.

    4. Do something creative with your devotional time. It doesn’t have to be doodling but have fun and try something new!

  • When is the last time you listened to worship music different than your usual? Have you ever experienced multicultural worship? Perhaps you have been able to travel and worship in a different language than your own or came across an album that you really loved. Either way, there is something about worshiping the Lord in a different language and in a different style.

My native language is English (as you probably know by now haha) and the only other language up until 2018 that I heard a worship song in was Spanish. Yet, at a student missions conference call Urbana, I heard worship in a BREATH of expression.

This worship experience still astounds me! Corporate worship really hits different when it’s live and there is a MASS of people of all different ethnicities singing along in different languages. I can’t remember all the languages we sung in but to name a few English, Spanish, Twi, Zulu, Farsi and Chinese. ❤️😩

Also, I only listened to worship songs with words up until a few years ago. Why didn’t anyone tell me about soaking music?! 🙌🏾

With all that being said I am chiming with this challenge. Take some time to step into a new expression of worship… a new language, a new genre, or even just sing a new song from you heart. Even if you can’t gather in these numbers you can still worship in a new way.

The Lord inhabits the praises of his people!

Scroll down for some new-to-me sounds I have been listening to.

  • You can be holy ❤️

For it is written, “Be holy as I am Holy.” “Walk by the Spirit and don’t fulfill the lusts of the flesh.”

If you believe that in Christ you are a new creation, then truly you are dead to your old nature. When temptation comes, speak the word of truth over yourself: I am dead to that, I am a new creation. Resist the devil and He will flee. Look for the way out because God always makes a way of escape.

Yet still, don’t give up if you mess up. Holiness isn’t attained in an instant. We all sin and fall short of the glory of the Lord. Confess the sin and God will restore you. Don’t dwell in shame and condemnation but instead moving forward in your walk with Christ.
